Dragonfly - Beneteau 331

We bought "Dragonfly" in March 2003. Suzanne and I went to Strictly Sail in Chicago to look for a spinnaker for "Prairie Zephyr" our Beneteau First 285. Of course, we stopped by to look at the new Beneteau. Suzanne sat down at the table in the B331 and said "I'll take this one!" We stopped by the next boat a B361. I liked it. Ron Plymate from Orleans Trail Marina, Stockton, MO was one of the salesmen. He noted that he had a B331 and a B361 on his lot, only 100 miles from home. He could deliver either one right away!

That was early Friday afternoon. We looked at the other Beneteaus and at Catalina, Hunter, Jenneau, Tartan, C&C. We kept coming back to look at the B331 and B361. Overnight, we talked and decided maybe we should give them a serious look. We kept coming back and by the end of the day had decided the B331 was a great choice for Mark Twain Lake. We were ready to look at the one Ron had.

After visiting Ron, we made the deal. Next came the name. After much thought, we decided on "Dragonfly." Ellie designed the logo.

"Dragonfly" arrived at Mark Twain Lake in St. Patrick's Day. We launched her and christened her with Bailey's Irish Cream. We had a short sail.

It's Later Than You Think

On an ancient wall in China
     Where a brooding Buddha blinks,
     Deeply graven is the message
It is later than you think.
The clock of life is wound but once
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop,
     At late or early hour.
Now is all the time you own,
     The past a golden link,
     Go cruising now my brother/sister
It's later than you think. -- Anonymous
