Captain Suz
From April 25, 2009 |
Suz enjoys sailing in all types of weather. Of course when there is no wind, she likes to relax and lay in the sun.
She is focusing on increasing her boat handling skills. She is usually at the helm when docking and while entering/leaving a anchorage. During a sailing class the instructor suggested the wife should learn to control the boat and be at the helm when every possible. His reasoning was the husband is usually stronger so should be better equipped to haul the anchor, fend off the dock, raise the sails, etc.
Bailey's Irish Cream is her favorite beverage. We never sail without it!
Suz teaches and supports technology at Hallsville.
First Mate Mark
Mark grew up in the outdoors of rural Kansas. He has been involved in many outdoors sports through the years. These include: hunting, fishing, skiing, camping, and canoeing. He took up sailing as a family activity in 2000. He enjoys the technical aspects of sailing: reading the wind and adjusting the sails for maximum efficiency.
Suz and Mark view their sailing as a team. Their goal is for both to be able to sail and crew "Dragonfly" with equal skills. This include docking, anchoring and sailing.
Mark currently works as University of Missouri Extension Regional Director.
